About the Artists
Rembrandt Frerichs
Renowned jazz pianist Rembrandt Frerichs combines historical instruments and world music traditions in his performances. He will play the harpsichord for this concert, adding depth to the baroque repertoire. Known for blending jazz, classical, and Middle Eastern elements, Frerichs describes his approach as:
“Blending centuries of musical tradition into a single moment.”
Collaborating with ensembles like Holland Baroque, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, and the Nederlands Kamerorkest, he has worked with artists such as Liza Ferschtman and Rick Stotijn. In 2021, Frerichs premiered a piano concerto commissioned by members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Antoinette Lohmann
Antoinette Lohmann is a versatile baroque violinist whose repertoire spans genres, including tango, folk, and contemporary compositions. Specializing in historical instruments like the viola d’amore and viola pomposa, she also leads the ensemble Furor Musicus, known for innovative recordings like her reconstruction of a Bach viola concerto.
Lohmann teaches at the Utrecht Conservatorium and promotes early music in South Africa, expanding her influence in the global music community.
