Brussels-based violinist, violist, composer, and actress Catherine Graindorge has spent years cultivating her multidisciplinary approach to the arts. Known for her haunting and evocative soundscapes, she has composed for theatre, dance, and film, earning a Magritte nomination for her soundtrack for Le Chant des Hommes. Her solo career took off in 2012 with the release of The Secret of Us All, followed by collaborations with notable artists such as Iggy Pop, John Parish (PJ Harvey), Hugo Race (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), and Mark Lanegan (Jeffrey Lee Pierce Project). Her second solo album, Eldorado, was released in 2021 and featured Parish as both producer and musician. In 2022, she released The Dictator, an EP with Iggy Pop contributing vocals on three tracks.
In May 2023, Graindorge’s trio, Nile On waX, released their fourth album, After Heaven. She also earned the “Solo Artist of the Year” award at the Octave de la Musique in September 2023. Her highly anticipated third solo album, Songs for the Dead, will be released in April 2024 on Tak
(Glitterbeat Records). Graindorge’s music, described as a blend of ambient, rock, and neo-classical, carries echoes of Max Richter’s cinematic journeys and Warren Ellis’s raw harmonies, continuing her unique and hypnotic artistic path.
Swiss composer and pianist Simon Ho (Hostettler) will join Graindorge for this performance. A master of composition, Ho studied under Cristobal Halffter and Edison Denisov and participated in courses with Pierre Boulez at IRCAM in Paris. His work spans contemporary classical music, operas, children’s choirs, and film scores, with premieres at international festivals in Luzern, Madrid, New York, and Mexico, among others. Ho’s compositions have been performed around the globe, making him a respected figure in contemporary music circles.
